1. Our Commitment
Compass Motorcycle Excellence is committed to providing motorcycle training in a fair, respectful and inclusive environment. We aim to ensure that all clients and prospective clients are treated with dignity and respect and have equal opportunity to access our services, regardless of their personal circumstances or characteristics.
We recognise our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and will not unlawfully discriminate against clients on the basis of protected characteristics, including age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
2. Fair Access to Training
Compass Motorcycle Excellence will make reasonable efforts to identify and remove barriers that may prevent a client from accessing our training services.
Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we will consider reasonable adjustments to training arrangements, communication methods, facilities or the way training is delivered. Any adjustment will be considered on an individual basis and in accordance with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
However, motorcycle training is a safety-critical practical activity. Any reasonable adjustment must allow the essential nature and safety requirements of the training to be maintained.
3. Fitness and Ability to Ride
For the safety of the client, instructor and other road users, every client undertaking practical motorcycle training must be physically, mentally and emotionally fit to ride a two-wheeled motorcycle safely on UK and European roads.
Clients must be capable of exercising appropriate control of the motorcycle, responding safely to instructions and hazards, and making appropriate decisions while riding.
Where a client's physical, mental or emotional condition, medication, fatigue, impairment or other circumstance may affect their ability to ride safely, Compass Motorcycle Excellence may need to discuss the situation with the client and determine whether training can safely proceed.
This requirement is a safety requirement and applies equally to all clients. It is not intended to discriminate against people with disabilities or other protected characteristics.
Where a client cannot safely undertake practical motorcycle training, Compass Motorcycle Excellence may postpone, modify or decline the practical training where this is necessary to protect the client, instructor or other road users.
4. Respect and Dignity
Bullying, harassment, victimisation, intimidation or discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated. Clients are expected to treat instructors, other clients and members of the public with courtesy and respect.
5. Individual Consideration
We encourage clients to tell us before training about any relevant circumstances that may affect their ability to participate safely. Information will be handled sensitively and confidentially.
Compass Motorcycle Excellence will consider each situation individually and will seek, wherever reasonably possible, to identify a safe and appropriate way for the client to participate.
6. Responsibility
This policy applies to Compass Motorcycle Excellence, its instructors, clients and anyone involved in the delivery of its motorcycle training services.
The policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure that it remains appropriate, effective and consistent with applicable UK equality and discrimination legislation.
